Hi all! It's been a bit since we wrote last, mostly due to being busy busy busy and internet problems. Sad face. We recently celebrated Eden's six month birthday! Oh my goodness, I can hardly believe our little girl is six months already. When I hold her in my arms, I'm overwhelmed by this incredible little gift. She is just so sweet. And funny. She's not a big talker (insert comment by Poppers- "Well, Emi, that's because she can never get a word in"- hehehe, I can hear him saying that now) but smiles and giggles a lot, especially recently. Right now she's into playing with pieces of paper, making noise with her toys, and rolling over (just one direction so far). One afternoon she was playing with a piece of paper and squirming around on the couch, when we looked over to see what she was up to we saw her little face with a piece of paper stuck over her eye. She looked up at us and gave us a BIG smile, our little pirate:) She seems to have inherited her mother's coordination abilities and just can't quite seem to figure out that she can actually roll the other direction as well. She first rolled over when she was two weeks old, but she was really mad, and it didn't happen again for a while. We took her to the hospital here for a 6 month well baby checkup. She weighs about 18 1/2 lbs and is about 27 inches long. She was just about too big for the scale. Chunky little baby. As soon as the nurse set her on the scale she started bawling (Eden, not the nurse:) instantly. We wonder if she remembered her previous experiences at the hospital with her immunizations. Poor little thing.
We celebrated her six month birthday by trying out bananas! She responded pretty well, it took her a little bit to get used to the spoon, but she ate with gusto! Surprisingly she also seems to be breastfeeding more as well. Hmmm. She has also tried oatmeal, but doesn't seem to like it. It's a bit of a challenge to find the food we'd like her to try. We'd like to have her try brown rice or avocado but they don't seem to have it
here. I think I took Fareway for granted:) We also don't have a microwave, not a big deal, it just takes a little more advance planning (something I'm not very good at) and creativity. It's also hard because we live so far away from the market (have to take a taxi to get there) and I'm not able to personally see what types of food are available (our cooks usually buy the food for us). Sigh. I do feel very blessed as right now we do have access to a blender which makes it MUCH easier to make sure her food is smooth. I'm not sure what solid we'll try next. Maybe yogurt? Here's a pic of our little wonder trying out bananas for the first time:)

Here's a pic of our little wonder trying out bananas for the first time:) Other than our food adventures, things continue to go well here. Last night two mosquitos found their way into our mosquito net and gave Seth and myself a few bites. I am proud to say that I found those filthy rascals this morning and gave them a swift squishing. Getting mosquito bites are bad enough, but the mere thought that I contributed to furthering the mosquito population? Disgusting. I do find an odd joy in smashing them. Hahaha. I continue to make yogurt with great enthusiasm, we both continue in language learning. Hard, good, some days are better than others and everything in between.
