Table Manners

I was watching our family eat lunch the other day. I realized that a number of cultures influence our table habits.

Perfectly acceptable table manners in our household:
-letting noodles hang out of your mouth while you are eating pasta or noodle-based soups (compliments of Korean culture)
-eating with your hands (compliments of Somali culture)
- reaching across the table to grab something (culturally appropriate in Turkey)
- making (minor) smacking/slurping noises while you eat (thank you to our Somali and Korean influences)

Unacceptable table manners in our household:
- throwing food (unless you're Avram) (compliments of every culture I know)
-  chewing with your mouth open (thank you US)
- talking with your mouth full (thank you US culture)
- spreading butter on your bread with your hands (US culture)
- belching at the table (unless you're me)
